Works 4 Me
A not for profit social enterprise offering day care based in Rugby for young adults with learning differences (weekdays), adult evening art and craft sessions (alt Thurs evenings) and children's art and pottery sessions (Saturday)
Works 4 Me recycle and update old furniture to sell in our shop, while providing work experience for young adults with additional needs. Clients can mix with the public in our integrated workshops, exploring a wide range of art activities. During these sessions they will be supported by professional artists and trained carers who have many years experience in working with a wide range of special needs.
Make us an exciting part of your week. The information on this page offers an overview of a week at Works 4 Me. Please note that what's on offer each day is subject to change as we are keen for individuals to share the planning of their day so we can be very flexible and activities vary depending on the needs of the clients. Although the afternoon workshops always run it is up to clients’ whether they wish to join in or do their own thing.

Start your day by up-cyleing a piece of furniture of your choice. This could include painting, sanding, or hammering. When you have completed your furniture we can put it in the shop for sale.
Then we stop for lunch, bring a pack-up or a member of staff could go with you into town.
In the afternoon you can make your own keepsake book using various techniques including paper making, embossing, and silk painting.
On Wednesday we have a full day to really get stuck into up-cyling furniture. This makes Wednesday a popular choice for work experience students from Brooke school and Warwickshire collage, who work alongside our clients. We support our clients to provide good customer service and handle money.
At lunchtime some of us choose to bring a pack up and eat in the shop, or you could join those who treat themselves by popping into town.
Thursdays are our relaxing day with tea and chat. In the morning we have a small group learning about knitting, crochet and embroidery. Bring your own project or we can start you off on a new skill.
Then we all have a break for lunch.
In the afternoon our group are currently making a patchwork blanket. Each week you will learn a different sewing technique and make a new square for your blanket.
Friday mornings vary. Sometimes we up-cyle furniture, others we have a go at needle felting or go to see what exhibition is on at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum.
We then stop for lunch.
In the afternoon you have the option to join in our pottery class. The class is integrated and aimed at all levels and abilities. Kate will share lots of new ideas and skills.
We don’t currently offer full day care on Saturdays.
In the morning two experienced artists teach a kids class, available to children aged 8 and over.
Classes include pottery sessions, learn basic techniques and experiment.
Children will also make a keepsake book using surface pattern techniques such as print and batik.
Kate, Lynne, Mandy , Niki or Liz will be there to co-ordinate activities and make sure we all stay safe. We can’t wait to meet you all and produce fantastic items together. If this sounds like something you might enjoy we can arrange a meeting to discuss how Works 4 Me might work for you!
See you soon.
